Portugal Weather Offers Year 'Round Fun

Portugal is a great place to visit all year 'round. Whether it is fishing, skiing, hiking, or nightlife you want, Portugal weather is determined to cooperate. This Mediterranean climate is sure to please, no matter what your pleasure.

Portugal weather is among the warmest of all of the European countries. Average temperatures on the mainland range from a comfortable 55 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. The sunny, warm summers offer perfect weather for sightseeing and enjoying the country's exciting nightlife and outdoor entertainment. The rainy, windy wintertime weather is perfect for enjoying the many indoor activities that Portugal has to offer, such as sporting events and museum or castle tours.

The islands off the coast of Portugal are compared to the Hawaiian Islands due to the warm and somewhat tropical Portugal weather. Some of the islands are similar, too, because they were formed by volcanos. No need to worry, though. The last volcanic eruption was more than 50 years ago. When you visit the islands you can enjoy pristine beaches or hike through one of the many parks. You might want to do some deep sea diving in the Atlantic Ocean. Portugal weather in the spring and early fall is perfect for the amateur fisherman.

Is a ski vacation more to your liking? Don't rule Portugal out just yet. While Portugal weather is generally mild on the mainland, some of the highest points of Portugal offer mountainous regions with one of the most relaxing ski resorts in the world. Serra da Estrela, the mainland's highest point, is home to the Vodafone Ski Resort. Whether you are a beginner or expert skier, the intimate Vodafone Ski Resort will be to your liking.

Family vacation? It is normal for some of the family to want a ski vacation and others to want something else. Serra da Estrala offers a National Park minutes from the ski resort. Some of you can ski while the others enjoy a long nature walk in the mountains. As you move south down the mountain, the Portugal weather becomes milder, perfect for those who don't like the cold and snow. When you have finished enjoying Serra da Estrala National Park, there are 32 more national conservation areas around Portugal to see.

If you would rather stay in the big city, the weather in Lisbon, Portugal is almost always sunny. There are a few cloudy days here and there with some mild rain, but snow has only been recorded in Lisbon twice over the past forty years. The weather is nearly always perfect to take a walk through the square and take in the architecture that Lisbon is famous for. The warm, gulf-stream breeze that dictates Portugal weather is sure to please everyone, residents and visitors alike.
